In return for their star forward the Canadiens acquire 2017 first round pick Nick Suzuki, who is coming off a 100 point (42 goals, 58 assists) season in the OHL for the Owen Sound Attack in 64 games played. In addition they also receive veteran forward Tomas Tatar, who joined Vegas last season from Detroit where he had a combined 20 goals and 14 assists.
In 626 games for the Canadiens, Paciorety tallied 226 goals, 222 assists for 448 total points. The Habs’ former captain is in the final year of his current 4.5 million dollar a year deal, and the trade ends the tenuous back-and-forth between both sides dating back to last season’s trade deadline. It also likely signifies Montreal continuing with their rebuild going forward.
