Canadiens trade Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann to Chicago
The Habs have started selling off their assets, starting with Dutch Gretzky and Tomas Fleischmann
Enjoying arguably the best season of his NHL career, and slated to become a free agent at the end of the season, it seemed only a matter of time before the Canadiens traded Dale Weise. The only question was what Marc Bergevin would be able to get in return, and now we know what that is.
Canadiens acquire Phillip Danault + 2nd round pick in 2018 from the CHI, in return for D.Weise and T.Fleischmann. https://t.co/dHZ5RmVkP2

Considering that Weise was likely to ask for a sizeable raise after his inflated production, this trade makes sense as the Canadiens likely wouldn't have wanted to pay him what he'd ask for. Fleischmann was essentially free to acquire, so that they were able to turn him into assets is definitely a good thing.
We have instant analysis in regards to this trade, and what Phillip Danault brings to the table for the Habs..
