2018 NHL Entry Draft: Montreal trades the 139th overall pick to the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2019 fifth-round selection

The Canadiens have made a trade to delay their fifth-round selection by a year.

The Montreal Canadiens struck a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks at the draft. Montreal sent the 139th overall pick in the 2018 draft to Chicago, in exchange for the ‘Hawks’ fifth-round pick in next year’s draft.

The 139th pick originally belonged to the San Jose Sharks, before being traded to the Canadiens at this year’s draft.
